Workshop Details
Come learn the exciting and creative craft of machine tufting in this hands-on workshop with Melissa Monroe. Come with your own design or I can help you access your creative side to work intuitively. This workshop takes place in my personal studio, offering inspiration and access to all my tools and yarn colors!
Perfect for beginners and creatives of all levels, this class will teach you everything you need to know to start creating rugs on your own and you will leave with a 2ft x 2ft rug.
Melissa will cover:

How to use a tufting machine safely and effectively

Sketching and transferring your design

Color and texture selection
-
Sourcing materials
-
Finishing options for your rug or wall hanging
Each student will have their own tufting station, including a tufting frame and gun, and will leave with the knowledge to continue tufting independently.
You’re welcome to bring a specific design idea or come ready to explore through color and shape. I have projectors so you can trace your design easily onto the cloth!

Use of a tufting gun (loop pile) and frame

Access to cut pile guns and an AK-III industrial gun demo

High-quality 100% wool yarn (30+ colors)

Tufting fabric, glue, scissors, and all tools

Enough materials to complete one 24" x 24" rug

If you finish your first rug and want to make more, additional supply costs will apply.

Lunch: Around 1 PM each day. Light snacks and drinks provided. Food carts are nearby, and fridge space is available.

Workshop is held in a spacious, light-filled 1500 sq. ft. studio

Tufting is a physical activity – you’ll need to stand and use your arms. If you have concerns, reach out to Melissa

There are two studio dogs – please let us know if you have allergies or prefer not to interact with dogs
Cancellation Policy

Cancel before August 25th: $325 refund (deposit of $150 is non-refundable)

Cancel after August 25th: Only the $75 supply fee is refunded unless your spot is filled
-
If the workshop is cancelled by the instructor, a full refund will be issued
