Collection: Plastic Ego

a series about first impressions and purchased love

Most of these pieces have 2 or 3 coats of resin and layers of paint in-between.  Giving the pieces superior depth and shine, some of the paintings look as though they are floating.  I worked on these simultaneously layering in a new way for me, paint, resin, paint, resin,  more pre thought then usual, however I still had no plan.  

Using the Gucci word and logo is an exploration of first impressions, judgment and branding,  I feel  we live in a time where people are displaying their Ego for the world to see and everyone has a "brand".  Buying things to advertise and express themselves through only a manufactured plastic t-shirt. I gave this work the extra coats of resin to bring the viewer closer and have them stay longer.   Stare into these pieces and I hope they can help you slow down and look a little longer at the people in front of you.
